How We Got Started

Founded by Shelby Smith, Xanadu Co. was created from a lifelong love of planning, meaningful experiences, and bringing people together with intention.

For Shelby, this work started naturally. She has always been the person who pours her heart into the full experience: the theme, the timing, the guest experience, and the thoughtful touches that make an event feel personal and memorable. What began as something she simply loved doing became something others continued to notice and encourage her to take seriously.

The heart of Xanadu Co. is deeply personal. Shelby’s mother, Cheryl Jo, instilled a love for planning and intentional celebration from the very beginning. The name Xanadu Co. honors Shelby’s first home on Xanadu Street in Colorado. “Co.” represents both Colorado and company, specifically the company of her sisters, her family, and the people who shaped her.

Each package is named after the middle names of Shelby’s sisters, niece, daughter, and wife, making Xanadu Co. not just a business, but an homage to family, roots, creativity, and celebration.
